What We Collect

Account Information (via Google or Microsoft)

  • Name and email address from your OAuth provider
  • Account automatically linked if you use the same email
  • We DON'T collect: Passwords, dates of birth, age, phone numbers, or addresses

Payment Information

  • Payment Card Details: Processed and stored by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store credit card numbers, CVV codes, or full card details on our servers.
  • Billing Information: Name and email associated with payments, as provided to Stripe.
  • Transaction Records: Payment amounts, dates, course enrollments, refund history, and payment status for accounting and customer service purposes.

Learning Data

  • Course enrollments, progress, completion status, and quiz scores
  • Reviews and ratings you submit

Technical Data

  • IP address, browser type, and device information (for security)
  • Cookies for authentication and site functionality
  • Contact form messages

How We Use Your Data

  • Account & Login: OAuth authentication, account management
  • Education: Course delivery, progress tracking, certificates
  • Payments: Processing enrollments and refunds via Stripe
  • Communication: Transactional emails about your account and courses
  • Legal: Compliance with Canadian law (PIPEDA, CASL), fraud prevention

We DON'T: Sell your data, send marketing to children, or use data beyond what's listed here without your consent.

Third-Party Services We Use

  • Google & Microsoft OAuth: Authentication services. They share your name and email with us. Subject to their respective privacy policies.
  • Stripe: Payment processing. We never see your full credit card details. ( Privacy Policy)
  • Hosting Providers: Secure servers in the United States with industry-standard security.

Who We Share Data With

We do not sell your data. We share it only with:

  • Service Providers: Google/Microsoft (auth), Stripe (payments), hosting providers
  • Employees: Only those who need access (bound by confidentiality)
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or to prevent fraud
  • Business Sale: Potential buyers (with advance notice to you)

Data Retention

  • Active Accounts: Retained while your account is active
  • Deleted Accounts: Personal data deleted within 30 days. Course records kept for 1 year (audit purposes)
  • Financial Records: 7 years (Canadian tax law requirement)
  • Support Messages: 2 years

How We Protect Your Personal Data

In order to protect your security, we use the strongest available browser encryption and store all of our data on servers in secure facilities. All data is only accessible to our employees. Our employees are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and a breach of this agreement would result in the employee's termination.

While we take all reasonable precautions to ensure that user data is secure and that users are protected, there always remains the risk of harm. The Internet as a whole can be insecure at times and therefore we are unable to guarantee the security of user data beyond what is reasonably practical.

International Data Transfers

We transfer user personal data to the following countries:

When we transfer user personal data we will protect that data as described in this Privacy Policy and comply with applicable legal requirements for transferring personal data internationally.

Children's Privacy (COPPA/PIPEDA Compliance)

We protect children's privacy through an OAuth-only approach. We don't collect dates of birth or try to determine ages.

Children Under 13

Children access our platform using parent-managed family accounts:

  • Google Family Link or Microsoft Family Safety: COPPA-compliant systems where parents have already provided consent
  • Parental Control: Parents manage access, payments, and can revoke access anytime through their family dashboard
  • What We Collect: Name, email, course progress (same as all users)
  • What We DON'T Collect: Age, DOB, phone numbers, addresses

Modifications

This Privacy Policy may be amended from time to time in order to maintain compliance with the law and to reflect any changes to our data collection process. When we amend this Privacy Policy we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this Privacy Policy. We recommend that our users periodically review our Privacy Policy to ensure that they are notified of any updates. If necessary, we may notify users by email of changes to this Privacy Policy.
